Bunny Safe Materials

We select only materials and finishes that are non-toxic. We do not use plywoods that contain formaldehye or woods that may contain toxins that could be harmful to your pet.

Here is a list of materials we use in our products, so you know exactly what our products are made of:

Kiln Dried Pine
We use kiln dried pine for the majority of our bunny furniture.  We are careful to select pine that is properly labeled and designated as kiln dried, as not all pine available at convential lumber yards are dried and labelled in such a way.

Other WoodsWe also use other bunny safe woods such as Poplar, Maple, and Birch for a variety of other components of our bunny furniture.

Glue
We use non-toxic Titebond 3 wood glue.

PlywoodsFor larger and more complicated furniture pieces we use special plywoods from Columbia Forest Products. These plywoods are composed of layers of woods species that are safe for rabbits. The plywood layers are laminated with a convenient soy-based adhesive that is also non-toxic. If you order furniture containing plywood, we specifiy this information to you beforehand.

HardwareWe dont not imbed hardware such as nails and staples into the wood of our bunny products. In cases where it may be necesscary to add hardware, such as hinges, we enure there are no protruding or sharp edges. This greatly reduces any potential injury risk to your bunny, in the case they may chew the wood.

Osmo Poly-Hardwax OilWe use Osmo Hardwax Oil to finish our animal products. This high quality finish is designated as animal and human safe and is the best known product to help protect your furniture while keeping your environment non-toxic. We do not use any finish on bunny toys or anything bunnies may potentially chew or ingest. When you place and order with us, we will let you know what products will have Osmo Oil finish, as you may also request to not have your bunny furniture unfinished.
